DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Review
The Pocket 4P puts two cameras on one three-axis gimbal: a 1-inch main camera at 20 mm and a 60 mm f/1.8 tele that gives 3x optical zoom. It is the Pocket for creators who want a tighter, more flattering framing for portraits and interviews, and, on DJI's figures, more grading headroom than the Pocket 4.

The Verdict
The Osmo Pocket 4P is the Pocket 4 with a second camera. Next to the 1-inch, 20 mm main camera sits a 60 mm equivalent f/1.8 tele on a 1/1.28-inch sensor, so the 3x step is optical, not a crop. DJI also rates the main camera at up to 17 stops in its new D-Log 2 profile and gives the 4P ActiveTrack 8.0, which it says keeps tracking at up to 12x zoom. DJI's European launch press release is dated 30 July 2026.
Pick it if you film people: talking heads, interviews, events, or travel portraits where 20 mm is too wide and too close. The trade-off for the second camera is size and runtime. The 4P weighs 230 g against the Pocket 4's 190.5 g, it is 63.3 mm wide instead of 44.4 mm, and DJI rates it for 210 minutes instead of 240 with the same 1545 mAh battery capacity.

In Depth
Two cameras on one gimbal
The main camera is a 1-inch CMOS behind a 20 mm equivalent f/2.0 lens, as on the Pocket 4, but it focuses closer: from 0.09 m instead of 0.2 m. Its ISO range is 100 to 25,600, or up to 51,200 in Low-Light Video. The tele is a separate camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a 60 mm equivalent f/1.8 lens, focusing from 0.2 m, with ISO 50 to 12,800 (25,600 in Low-Light Video). Sixty millimetres is three times the main camera's 20 mm, which is where DJI's "3x optical zoom" comes from.
That focal length is the point of the 4P. A head-and-shoulders framing at 20 mm means holding the camera close, which exaggerates whatever is nearest the lens; at 60 mm the camera can stand three times further back for the same framing. DJI pitches the f/1.8 aperture for natural background blur in portraits. DJI lists photos at approximately 37 MP but does not say which camera that figure belongs to. The electronic shutter reaches 1/16000 s, against 1/8000 s on the Pocket 4.
D-Log 2, D-Log and DJI's dynamic range figures
The 4P adds a second log profile. D-Log 2 is the one DJI ties to its headline figure: up to 17 stops on the main camera, which DJI lists next to the word LOFIC in its comparison table. D-Log 2 is 10-bit and works only at 1x zoom, so it is a main-camera profile. The older D-Log is available in normal video and, DJI states, in Slow Motion too. For the tele, DJI quotes 14 stops in both Normal and D-Log, possibly less in Slow Motion.
In practice this means two workflows. For the most latitude in a high-contrast scene, going by DJI's figures, stay on the main camera in D-Log 2. For slow motion you intend to grade, or for tele shots, use D-Log. DJI also lists HDR 10-bit video for footage that should look finished straight out of the camera; HLG is not mentioned on the 4P's pages.
Zoom, slow motion and tracking
Video zoom runs to 12x in 4K, 3K and 1080p, and photos to 9x; past 3x it is digital. In Slow Motion and Timelapse there is no digital zoom at all, only the two optical focal lengths. Slow Motion records 4K at up to 240 fps on the main camera and up to 200 fps on the tele, and 1080p at 120 or 240 fps on both. DJI notes that 4K is not available when shooting vertically; vertical normal video tops out at 3K (1728 × 3072).
DJI calls the focusing system Intelligent AF and does not say whether it uses phase detection. ActiveTrack 8.0 is the subject-following mode, which DJI says keeps tracking at up to 12x zoom and holds subjects centred across different holding positions. Multi-Person Tracking follows up to eight people, but you cannot zoom while it is active. Up to three subjects can be registered in the camera, and gesture control reaches 8 to 15 m when the zoom is between 3x and 12x.
Size, runtime and storage
With the second camera, the 4P is larger: 159.5 × 63.3 × 33.5 mm overall, against 144.2 × 44.4 × 33.5 mm for the Pocket 4, and 230 g against 190.5 g. Both use a 1545 mAh, 11.95 Wh battery and the same charging figures (80 % in 18 minutes with DJI's 65 W charger, sold separately), but DJI rates the 4P for 210 minutes instead of 240 under the same test, 1080p/24 with Wi-Fi and the screen off. DJI lists a battery handle among the compatible accessories, sold separately.
Storage is 103 GB built in, 4 GB less than the Pocket 4, plus a microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB. DJI quotes up to 90 MB/s over Wi-Fi and, in a lab test, 800 MB/s over a USB 3.1 cable. The 2-inch, 1000-nit touchscreen has the same resolution as the Pocket 4's, though the 4P's pages do not name the panel type. For audio, DJI lists three built-in microphones and 48 kHz 16-bit AAC; its 4P press release mentions OsmoAudio microphones as accessories but, unlike the Pocket 4's page, does not promise four-channel recording.

FAQ
Should I buy the Pocket 4P or the Pocket 4?
Buy the 4P if you will use the 60 mm tele: portraits, interviews, events, or anything you cannot walk up to. Its main camera also has the D-Log 2 profile DJI rates at up to 17 stops. Buy the Pocket 4 if you mostly film yourself at 20 mm; it is 39.5 g lighter, narrower, and rated 30 minutes longer, and it has 4 GB more built-in storage.
Is the 3x zoom really optical?
Yes. The 3x position switches to a separate camera with its own 1/1.28-inch sensor and a 60 mm equivalent f/1.8 lens. Beyond 3x, up to 12x in video and 9x in photos, the zoom is digital, and Slow Motion and Timelapse allow only the 1x and 3x positions.
Does D-Log work in slow motion on the Pocket 4P?
DJI states that D-Log works in both normal video and Slow Motion on the 4P. That is D-Log, not D-Log 2: D-Log 2 is limited to 1x zoom, and DJI does not say it works in Slow Motion. For the tele camera, DJI adds that dynamic range in Slow Motion may be lower than its 14-stop figure.
How long does the battery last?
DJI rates it at 210 minutes, measured at 25 °C and 1080p/24 with Wi-Fi and the screen off. DJI gives no figure for 4K with the screen on. With DJI's 65 W charger (sold separately) it reaches 80 % in 18 minutes, and DJI lists a battery handle as an accessory.
Final Recommendation
The Pocket 4P removes the choice between a wide vlogging lens and a portrait lens. If people are your subject, the 60 mm camera and D-Log 2 justify the extra size. If you film yourself at arm's length, the Pocket 4 does the same job lighter and longer.
Buy it if: You film interviews, portraits, events or travel scenes where 20 mm is too wide, want more grading latitude than the Pocket 4 offers on DJI's figures, or want log footage in slow motion.
Skip it if: You mostly film yourself, value the smallest and lightest body and the longest runtime, rely on four-channel DJI Mic recording, or need a camera rated for water or freezing temperatures.
