Ulanzi VL49 RGB
Pocket-sized, built-in 2000mAh battery, magnetic back and full RGB. The default answer for run-and-gun vlogging.
Why Buy It
- Fits in a jacket pocket
- Magnetic mounting is faster than a screw
- Charges over USB-C
Trade-offs
- Not bright enough as a key light outdoors
- Small battery under full output
Rollei Lumis Mini RGB
The cheapest way to get a usable RGB panel. Fewer presets and lower output than the Ulanzi, but the colour range is there.
Why Buy It
- Lowest price of the group
- German brand with local support
Trade-offs
- Lowest output here
- Fewer controls
Ulanzi VL120 RGB (5 inch)
Bigger panel, more light, wider spread. Choose this if the VL49 keeps running out of power for a two-person interview setup.
Why Buy It
- Noticeably brighter than pocket panels
- Softer, wider light
Trade-offs
- Too big for a gimbal setup
K&F Concept 135 LED RGB
5000mAh battery with 135 LEDs. The one to pick when you shoot long takes away from power.
Why Buy It
- Largest battery in this list
- Doubles as a power bank in a pinch
Trade-offs
- Heavier on a small camera
NEEWER Magnetic RGB Mini
Tiny magnetic cube for lighting a product shot or filling a shadow. Not a key light, a tool.
Why Buy It
- Sticks to anything metal
- Very high buyer rating
Trade-offs
- Output only suits close subjects
Rollei LUX Compact RGB
Middle ground between the Lumis Mini and the Ulanzi panels, with continuous output and 36 effects.
Why Buy It
- More effects than the Lumis Mini
- Local warranty handling
Trade-offs
- No magnetic back
How to Choose
Get it off the camera
A panel on the hot shoe is flat light. A short arm or a small stand to one side changes the result more than any spec.
Match the room, then correct
Set the panel near the colour of the room lights first, then shift both toward daylight if you want cleaner skin.
Diffuse it
The bundled diffuser costs nothing and removes the hard edge that gives away a small LED.
Watch the battery under RGB
Saturated colours draw more power than white. Plan for shorter runtime than the rated figure.
