The FX3's sensor is a 12.1 MP full-frame CMOS (35.6 x 23.8 mm). Sony gives a native range of ISO 80 to 102,400, expandable to ISO 409,600. For photos other people took with it, see Sample photos.

Autofocus
The FX3 has 627 phase-detection AF points. Owners rely on the autofocus when shooting video (see What owners report).
Video Recording
The FX3 records 4K at up to 120p internally, in 10-bit 4:2:2. Internal recording formats include XAVC S-I and XAVC HS, with S-Log3, S-Cinetone and HLG profiles. Video goes out over a full-size HDMI (Type A) port.
Audio
The supplied XLR handle connects XLR microphones and wireless systems to the camera; with it attached, the FX3 records four audio channels. The handle provides phantom power and has physical level dials. The body also has a built-in stereo microphone and 3.5 mm ports.
