Video formats
XAVC S and XAVC HS internally; the A7S III records 4K up to 120p in 10-bit. Over HDMI the camera outputs 16-bit raw, up to 4.2K (4,264 × 2,408) at 60 fps, through a full-size HDMI (Type A) port.

Sony lists both with a 12.1 MP, 35.6 × 23.8 mm full-frame sensor, up to 10 fps in Hi+ drive mode, two card slots that each take CFexpress Type A or SD cards, and a full-size HDMI (Type A) port. The A7S III and the FX3 both record 4K 120p. The A7S III has 759 phase-detection AF points, the FX3 627. The A7S III weighs 699 g and the FX3 715 g, each with battery and card. The A7S III has a 9.44M-dot viewfinder, and some owners say they chose it over the FX3 because of it (see What owners report).
Does it overheat?
Sony's figures, from a cold start with default settings: about 30 minutes of continuous XAVC S 4K 60p at 25 °C or 40 °C with [Auto Power OFF Temp.] on Standard, and about 90 minutes at 25 °C (60 minutes at 40 °C) on High. Sony's table covers 4K 60p and HD only, so Sony publishes no figure for the A7S III in 4K120. A single recording tops out at about 13 hours.
