Image Quality & Sensor Performance
The sensor is a 20.4 MP Four Thirds stacked BSI Live MOS (17.3 x 13.0 mm). For photos other people took with it, see Sample photos.
The computational High Res Shot mode produces 50 MP files handheld or 80 MP files on a tripod. Owners say they use the in-camera ND, graduated ND filter and focus stacking features (see What owners report).
Autofocus & Tracking System
The OM-1 II has 1,053 cross-type phase-detection AF points and AI subject detection for people, animals, birds and vehicles. Bird and wildlife owners single out the subject detection and tracking (see What owners report).
OM System gives up to 50 fps with AF/AE tracking (SH2) and up to 120 fps with fixed AF (SH1). SH1 uses the electronic shutter, works only with a limited lens selection, and rules out slow shutter speeds and flash. Pro Capture mode records frames before the shutter button is fully pressed.
Video Capabilities
Internal recording goes up to C4K (4096 x 2160) and 4K (3840 x 2160) at 60p in 10-bit; High-Speed Recording is Full HD only, at up to 240 fps. OM-Log400 and HLG profiles are available.
OM System lists the maximum recording time as unlimited. Video goes out over micro HDMI (Type D).
